E-Learning/Distance Learning

For many adults, distance learning, online learning, or as many are now calling it, e-learning, provides opportunities to start or continue their educational pursuits while working, raising a family, or when campus access is not convenient. E-learning can be undertaken in a variety of forms, but its central feature is that the learning takes place when the instructor and students are not in a traditional "face-to-face" classroom.

E-learning provides flexibility and convenience for a growing number of adult learners needing to balance work and family responsibilities. The following links provide three comprehensive resources with information and tools to help you get started.

Georgia Virtual Technical College
The Georgia Virtual Technical College brings together the resources of 34 accredited technical colleges to expand program offerings giving students more technical educational options than ever before.

Students get the same high quality instruction and course content that these technical colleges provide to traditional students, minus the barriers of time and place that prevent so many from pursuing educational opportunities.

University System of Georgia Distance Education
The University System of Georgia offers information on distance education opportunities and related services such as eCore, WebBSIT, WebMBA, online degree programs, courses and certifications, GALILEO, GIL, and the Electronic Campus. If you want to see if online learning might be right for you, check out the Student Online Readiness Tool.

Electronic Campus
The Southern Regional Education Board's (SREB) Electronic Campus is a comprehensive source for information about higher education opportunities in the South. The Electronic Campus is also a Mentor site, so you can use your GAcollege411 username and password to access the site.
