Transferring from Another CollegeStudents who have attended a regionally accredited college or university following their high school graduation and now wish to pursue an undergraduate degree from another college or university are considered transfer students. In general, the most important factors considered when determining eligibility for transfer admission are the number of transferable hours, the transfer grade point average (GPA) in attempted courses, whether or not there are any high school curriculum and/or learning support deficiencies and whether or not a student is eligible to return to their last institution. Transferable HoursTransferable hours are defined as hours completed in college-level coursework at regionally accredited institutions which would be acceptable by the receiving institution according to the University System's and the receiving institutions prevailing policies. Excluded are "institutional credit" courses, courses used to satisfy high school curriculum deficiencies, and vocational courses. Transfer Grade Point AverageA Transfer Grade Point Average (GPA) is defined as the GPA calculated on all transferable hours plus all attempted but unearned hours at regionally accredited institutions. Transfer Admission RequirementsThe following are the University System of Georgia transfer admission requirements for all students wishing to transfer into System institutions. Students with fewer than 30 transferable semester credit hours must meet the freshman admission requirements in addition to the transfer requirements listed below.
Note: The Board of Regents establishes minimum requirements for the University System and meeting those requirements does not guarantee admission to the institutions within the System. Contact the admission office for information regarding the admission requirements for a specific college or university. |
